From Musician to CEO
I studied vocal music in college. Appropriately, I began my career path by working as a professional musician. After two short years of trying to make ends meet, I was accepted into Navy Officer Candidate School. Yes, its a long story.
I am proud to have served our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and rose to the rank of Commander. The Navy allowed me to further my education and grow as a leader. But somewhere along the way, I heard the grass was greener on the other side.
So, armed with an MBA paid for by the Navy, I left and become a project manager and technology consultant for two major consulting firms. Then, I moved on to an insurance company that insures the education industry. Near the end of my 11 years with that great company, I became their CIO.
And, three years ago I left that position and became the CEO of a non-profit. What a great job. I had an amazing team and board of directors. At the end of March 2017 I retired to assist others with their career pursuits.
